Meta Ads management for local service businesses

Meta does not catch people who need you today. It makes sure they know your name on the day they do.

In short

Included in every multi-platform plan.

$1,490 a month, all three

Search captures existing demand. Meta reaches people who have not started looking, which makes it the wrong tool for an emergency and the right one for everything with a decision window: a roof that has a few years left, a kitchen a couple is arguing about, a battery backup somebody has been thinking about since the last outage.

It is also where photographs do work that words cannot. A real before-and-after in a neighborhood a homeowner recognises outperforms anything a designer produces, which is why we ask clients for job site photos rather than buying stock. The trades that benefit most from Meta are the ones where the finished work is visible from the street.

Do Meta ads actually work for contractors?

For planned work, yes. For emergencies, no. Nobody buys a burst pipe repair from a Facebook ad, but remodels, roof replacements, new garage doors, solar and batteries all have a consideration window long enough for Meta to reach somebody before they search.

The mistake that makes people say Meta does not work is judging it on last-click leads in the first month. A channel whose job is to reach somebody months before they search will always look worse than search on a thirty-day view, and better than search on a twelve-month one.

What is the difference between Meta and Google for a local business?

Google finds people who are already looking. Meta reaches people who are not looking yet. Google is priced by competition for intent; Meta is priced by attention. Running only Google means paying the highest price for every customer, because you meet them at the moment everyone else does.

Running only Meta means paying to interrupt people who may never need you. The two are complements, not alternatives, which is the argument for running both from the same desk rather than splitting them between agencies who each report their own half favorably.

What creative actually performs for a local service business?

Real work, real people, real neighborhoods. Job site photos, a crew, a finished install, a recognizable street. Polished agency creative reads as an advertisement; a photograph that looks like it came off a phone on a job reads as a local business, which is what the buyer is looking for.

The practical consequence is that we need photos from you. It is the one input we cannot manufacture, it is the highest-leverage thing you can give us, and clients who send a handful of job photos a month get materially more out of this channel than clients who do not.

How do you target without wasting money on renters and other cities?

Geography first, then homeowner and home value signals, then the interest and behavior layers that survive testing. Meta has removed many targeting options over the years, so the creative increasingly does the qualifying: an ad that names the service and the area filters the audience by itself.

Retargeting matters more than it used to. Somebody who priced a job on your site and did not book is the most valuable audience you have on this platform, and it is the first thing we build.

What this channel will not do

Where Meta is the wrong answer

Every channel has a shape. Knowing where one stops is the only way to know what the others are for.

  • Meta will not fill tomorrow's emergency schedule. If you need the phone to ring today, that is Google and Yelp.
  • It needs photographs. A Meta account with no real job imagery is running at a permanent disadvantage.
  • Attribution is genuinely harder here. We report it honestly rather than claiming credit for every search that followed.

Meta Ads questions

Is Facebook advertising dead for contractors?

No, but the way it works has changed. Detailed interest targeting matters less than it did and creative matters more, which favours businesses with real photographs of real work. Judged as a demand-capture channel it looks poor; judged as the thing that makes your name familiar before somebody searches, it holds up.

Do you run Instagram as well as Facebook?

Yes. They are one advertising system and one budget. Which placements get shown depends on where your audience actually converts, which is a finding from your own account rather than a preference. In most trades the split is not what owners expect.

What about lead forms inside Facebook?

They produce cheaper leads and worse ones, which can be the right trade or the wrong one. A form somebody fills in without leaving Facebook has less intent behind it than one filled in on your site. We test both and let the closed-job rate decide, not the cost per lead.

How much of my budget should go to Meta?

It depends entirely on whether your work is planned or urgent. An emergency-heavy plumber may put very little there; a remodeler may put half. We start with the trade, then move money based on what the account actually shows, which is the advantage of running all three channels from one desk.
